Don't Ask Google Copilot About Climate Change
The AI program Google Copilot invariaby gives politically correct answers to questions involving Climate Change, though you might not think so if you only read the first part of the answer. I asked it about Climate Change last night. At first it fully agreed with me that evidence from ice cores and the geologic record showed that worldwide temperature increases have always preceeded increases in CO2, not the other way around. It even supplied me with details about the process. But then it suprisingly concluded with the assertion that CO2 causes the temperature to increase anyway. When I asked how it could tack on such an unsupported conclusion to its scientific beginning, it told me: "It might be time to move on to a new topic. Let's start over." Well, I guess when you make a fool of yourself, it really is time to move on.

When Fads Go Amok
Dangerous and fatal fads aren't uncommon among pubescent girls. As the New York Times pointed out in a major story 10 years ago, female puberty can often be pretty rough. In 1692, to cite one well-known example, a group of pubescent girls from Salem, Massachusetts, began suffering fits, contortions and uncontrolled screaming. A doctor bought in by the girls' families quickly decided that the problems was witchcraft, which certain bad actors were using to infect the houses, fields, forests and even the ships at sea. When one sea captain found a tub of rancid butter in the hold, he blamed that on witchcraft too.
In those days, justice was swift. Nineteen people were promptly hanged and 150 more imprisioned. But Yankees had too much common sense to stay nutty for long. Residens quickly began to notice that even people with no belief in superstgitutions like witchcraft were using nevertheless using the accusation to redress old greviences. Within nine months the hysteria was essentially gone. Now we only hear about Salem 1692 when someone wants to point out, with good reason, I might add, just how fast a sober and reasonable society can essentially go nuts.
Here's another pubescent female fad, this time though this time it's probably one you never heard of. In the 20th century, the historical team of Will and Ariel Durant wrote a book on Greek civilzation which mentioned in passing an old Plutarch story about an epidemic of suicide among young women in the Greek seaside town of Miletus in 277 BC. Girls were going out and hanging themselves in large numbers. Parents were aghast and astonished that such a thing could be happening at all. Some of them essentially hired guards to keep their daughters from running amok. No one really knew what to do until the city fathers, in a classic fit of inspiration, came up with the idea of mandating that all suicides be carried naked through the marketplace on their way to the burial grounds. This not only worked. It stopped the suicides overnight. Apparently, the desire to kill yourself wasn't as strong as the fear of having total strangers see you naked in the town square. The probelms today, of course, are much different. Many transsexuals today would give their left foot to be seen naked, in the marketplace, or anywhere else.

Transsexuality As The New Behavorial Sink
Starting the early sixties, behavorial anthropologist John Calhoun did a rat/mouse study he called the behavorial sink. He put a bunch of rats in four adjoining cages. They had plenty of food and water. But their behavor quickly changed. They tended to crowd together in one cage. The females quit caring for their young (or died themselves during childbirth). Males either became over-aggressive or pathologically passive. Somebecame cannibals. Both sexes forgot the social skills require to mate. It had become a patholical society, a rat version of transsexuality. As world population passes through 8 billion we are becoming the same overfed, over populated kind of society. (Is this why so many transsexual women are fat?) Both sexes seem increasingly uninterested in each other. What men care about is computer games. I am not sure about women--perhaps dying their hair incadescent orange or green.

Why so many trans these days?
Overpopulation turns people trans. It isn't at first obvious since it does it indirectly. Our economy doesn't work anymore. Living in an economy where all the money goes to housing has made it difficult for a man to support a family solely through his own effort. So women have to work too. This leaves men feeling useless. They can't do what has always been their primary job throughout history--providing for and protecting the family. His wife, even if she wants children, essentially can't have them these days. It's too hard to hold a job and have children too. This is what makes Trans such a popular althernative. It gives everyone a great excuse. You can't blame a woman for not having children if she really considers herself a man. You can't blame a man for not supporting a family when he feels like a woman. Trans-sexuality is so popular because it gives people a way not to feel ashamed.

The Native American Myth
I just saw some quotes from a Washington Post columnist who ridiculed our current national concern over shoplifting as the "Panic" Of "A Sticky-Fingered Nation Built On Stolen Land."
She's right that we are sticky fingered, but it's the people who ransack pharmacies or the mobs who smash the display cases in jewelry stores who are the problem. She blames everyone. But not everyone is doing this. I don't see Asian-American or Scandanavian-American mobs robbing any stores. As for the Spanish and later the English stealing the land from the Indians, there's no doubt we did do that. What she doesn't seem to realize, though, is that the land the Spanish took from the pre-Columbia Indians was in any way occupied by the original natives.
Life in pre-Columbian America, from Alaska to the tip of South America, was almost always a matter of taking some other tribe's land. Not only did Indian tribes continually fight and kill members of other tribes in the 20,000 or 25,000 years humans occupied the land, they also, especially in the American southwest, ate them too. Whatever the faults of the subsequent English, Spanish and French invaders, at least they didn't do that.
